ROUND ROCK, Texas, April 19, 2006 - With the NFL draft just around the corner, preparation for next year’s season is on the mind of every team in the league. Everyone agrees that proper preparation and practice are critical to a team’s success. The 49ers are preparing for their upcoming season by installing a new Sportexe® Momentum® 51 synthetic turf system in their practice facility, the Marie P. DeBartolo Sports Center.
“We did extensive research and looked at several turf companies and their products,” said Murlan Fowell, VP of Operations for the 49ers. “Based on various recommendations, visits to fields, and the professional manner in which Sportexe presented themselves, we felt Sportexe offered the best product on the market today.”
Sportexe Momentum 51 is designed to be dense, firm, fast - a superior surface that maximizes performance and player safety. With unsurpassed quality and durability, Momentum® is the premier synthetic turf system of choice for professional sporting teams.
“We are thrilled to become a partner of a prestigious team like the San Francisco 49ers,” said Mark Nicholls, Sportexe President and CEO. “The quality of Sportexe products is acknowledged in the NFL with surfaces being utilized by the Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints and the Buffalo Bills. The 49ers have such a rich history in the NFL; it is an honor to be their surface of choice.”
In addition to the 49ers, Sportexe is in the process of completing fields at Tulane, Louisiana State University, and the University of Central Florida. Numerous other teams and facilities in the Bay Area have also chosen Sportexe including De La Salle High School and the University of California, Berkeley.
Other California clients making the Sportexe switch are the cities of Santa Ana, Woodland, and El Dorado Hills, as well as several area schools such as Tesoro and Saint Bonaventure high schools, and the Sacred Heart schools.
